SplitText Masks + AutoSplit

It would be great to expand the current SplitText integration in the Animation Panel with two additional GSAP SplitText options: Masks and AutoSplit.

Currently, Bricksforge can split text into chars, words, or lines, but these two options would make line-based animations much more flexible and responsive.

1. SplitText Masks

GSAP supports:

SplitText.create(".text", {
  type: "lines",
  mask: "lines"
});

This creates a clipping wrapper around each individual line, making it possible to create clean line-by-line reveal animations from behind an overflow: hidden mask.

Ideally, Bricksforge could provide a Mask option:

None / Chars / Words / Lines

2. AutoSplit

It would also be very useful to expose GSAP’s autoSplit option:

SplitText.create(".text", {
  type: "lines",
  autoSplit: true
});

This is especially important for responsive layouts. When the viewport width changes, text can wrap differently and previously calculated lines may no longer match the actual layout.

With autoSplit, SplitText can automatically re-split the text when necessary, keeping line-based animations correct across different viewport sizes and responsive breakpoints.

Having both Mask + AutoSplit available directly in the Animation Panel would make responsive line-reveal animations much easier to build without additional custom JavaScript.

Hi,

thanks for the well-argued request, two different answers for the two parts.

Mask: this one already exists in the runtime. The frontend passes a mask option (lines, words or chars) to SplitText and GSAP wraps each unit in its own clipping container. What’s missing is the control in the new Animation Panel: it was added to the previous Timelines panel shortly before 4.0 and didn’t make it into the new UI. I’ll add the Mask option (None / Lines / Words / Chars) to the Split Text section, so no custom JS needed for line reveals.

AutoSplit: not used at the moment. The split happens once when the timeline is set up, with the type you choose, and there is no re-split on resize. I see the point for responsive line animations, but I can’t promise it right now. If it comes, it would be a toggle next to the mask option.

Best
