The “howdy” setting in the3 backend designer does not take affect when set and saved.

the “Replace Howdy” field only takes effect when the Admin Bar area itself is switched on. The field sits in the Admin Bar panel, but the switch that activates it is the toggle next to “Admin Bar” in the left rail (group “Backend Chrome”). With that toggle off, the value is saved but never applied - the same applies to the Admin Bar logo and the Minimal Admin Bar option.
Could you check that first?

thanks for checking - and sorry for sending you to the toggle, that was not the cause. I had another look at the code and found a real bug on our side.
