I just noticed this on a site that Forge is installed and activated and has latest version. Bricks is also latest on 1.11.
The Forge icon is not seen anywhere in the Bricks editor. I’ve looked all over the Forge settings and I’m not sure how to open and use it at this point without the icon in the builder.
Maybe I missed a setting or something, but on this website we didn’t end up needing any features so I uninstalled it. But I would still like to know what to do if the icon isn’t there.
Also, just an odd UX issue, but when I open Forge settings from the Bricks menu, it pops up the settings page and “fades out” the rest of the screen, but there is no “close” icon or any way to close out of the settings screen. I can’t even click “outside” the popup window or navigate anywhere else!
The only way to get out of the Forge settings screen was to enable the option to NOT fade out the WP menu and admin bar so that they remain visible. Then I could navigate away. This is just weird UX that blocks out the screen and then gives no way to close or get out of the settings page.
Hopefully you can find and update these UX problems. Thanks!
Hey
Regarding the Bricksforge UX: there is no popup which needs a closing mechanism. Bricksforge just opens in a simple page and just changes the opacity of the menu to be more focused on the settings. But after hovering over the menu, the original opacity will be back. So you could navigate to your other menu items without problems. It may have the look of a popup, but its no popup at all
Regarding the icon: I assume you’re talking about the Bricksforge Panel? If yes, can you confirm that you have it activated on “Extensions → Bricksforge Panel” ?
It’s very awkward and unlike any other settings screen of any other plugin. It didn’t work as you said. I couldn’t hover over the WP menu or click on it or do anything, it would not become active by moving the mouse over it. It was completely “stuck” on the Forge settings screen unless I went to another URL manually or turned off the setting to fade out the WP UX. I would highly suggest removing that goofiness and just have it open in a standard options page view with the rest of WP visible as normal like any other plugin.
As for the Extensions thing, I already removed the plugin but if the only way to have Forge show up in the builder is enabling an extension, it’s possible that must have been off. I must be missing something, why the main feature of Forge requires an “extension”? I thought that whole panel thing in Bricks was the main purpose of Forge in the first place! I didn’t think I would need to enable extensions to get that.
This plugin isn’t very intuitive nor does the UX work “normally” in my opinion. I wasn’t even sure what to do with the plugin since the panel was missing. I think I need to go back and read what the features are again!
