Timeline can not be accessed, Target selector (picker) not working at all

So I finally tried to animate in Bricksforge. Admittedly, I purchased it for the Form and CRUD use, but I said it’s about time I animate. What a terrible experience this is.

It does sound harsh, but I am not disrespectful. I just somehow expected a bit more mature UI for a version 3 of a plugin. The base idea is nice, but the experience is terrible right at the beginning.

I can not access the timeline unless my Browser zoom is set to 80%. This is the first issue. I do NOT intend to zoom out every time I access Bricksforge for animation. I tried multiple browsers it’s the same outcome. I have a 4k monitor, so my OS scaling is set to 150%, maybe that has something to do with it, literally none of my other extensions, be it Bricks or browser extensions, are affected by this. Only Bricksforge has this problem.

Second - I tried to follow tutorials on animation, and there it is right at the beginning, another kick in the face. I open the animation window, and I am supposed to pick an element from the editor with the Target selector.

As soon as I do that (pick an element with the crosshair icon) - nothing happens - it just spins endlessly. I spent two hours debugging, blaming myself for being a novice, then thinking it was one of my browser extensions or something…

Only to find an experienced user posted the same issue here - focus and picking element is not working. (thread Stagger works in Bricks/backend but not frontend - user bigzack - second post in that thread)

Really not a convincing start. I’ll disable this and off to naimate with my classes. I am confident you’ll solve this in the future, but for someone who just started, I really had a terrible experience and a waste of time. The only thing I can do is to report the issue here and wait.

All the best.

CSS edited and that black block that covers controls is gone

Hi,

thank you for taking the time to share your experience in such detail. I completely understand your frustration, and I appreciate your constructive way of communicating it.

To be honest, we have never seen an issue like the one you described regarding the timeline access, nor have we received any similar reports from other users so far. To help us investigate this properly, could you please share a bit more information with us?

  • Which operating system are you using?
  • Are there any browser extensions installed that could potentially interfere?
  • Is there any way you could help us reproduce the issue on our side?

Once we have a bit more context, we’ll do our best to get to the bottom of this.

Kind regards

Hello!

  1. Latest Windows 11
  2. None - no extension
  3. I can not answer that. But I recorded a video. Note that at least one other user reported spinning target at this forum, so I am not the only one. I recorded a video for you. It happens every time - Firefox, Chrome, Edge - no difference.

No additional plugins added. See my video. https://youtu.be/SQsqWQFYTk8

Let me know if I can do anything else.

Also, while the target selector definitely isn’t working for me, one user pointed out to me that I can just type in my own selectors. After that, I can access the timeline and the controls.

I played with the animations for an hour. Yeah, I think I understand where the Brickforge “awesomeness” factor comes from. This is definitely a fun and easy way to do animations (and not overdo it).

I am finally starting to feel positive vibes.
